The Learning Self - Mark Tennant - Psychology: Professional & General
£20.79

This new book from the award-winning author of Psychology and Adult Learning puts the spotlight on the kind of learning that brings about significant personal change. Tennant explores the techniques, processes, and practices educators can use to promote learning that leads to change and examines assumptions about self and identity, how we are formed, and our capacity for change.Throughout the book, Tennant posits that individuals can be agents in their own self-formation and change by understanding and acting on the circumstances and forces that surround and shape them. Educators, he argues, must be open to different theoretical ideas and practices while simultaneously valuing these practices and viewing them with a critical eye.The book aims to:? promote, among educators and others with an educational dimension to their work, a more critical approach to their learning designs and practices;? equip individuals with a framework for understanding and being agents of their own self-formation and change.

History of American Graffiti - Caleb Neelon - Fine Arts / Art History

History of American Graffiti - Caleb Neelon - Fine Arts / Art History
£20.00

In the scope of human history, graffiti is the only visual art form started by children to have become a globally entrenched medium. With forty years of history as an organized artistic lifestyle sport, graffiti has sprung from the neglected neighborhoods of New York and Philadelphia to cover cities on every habitable continent. It was an amazing formula: fame for your name via effort and style. In the middle of the 1980s, there was a rush of media attention focused on the movement of graffiti, as a part of the hip-hop culture that included rapping, DJing, and breakdancing. The movement immediately spread throughout the world and took immovable root across the United States. Yet despite the early rush and all of its success around the world, the written history of its expansion has remained scant, and to this day, the general public, even the educated general public, has only a faint sense of what graffiti is about, and one often clouded by misconceptions. "The History of American Graffiti" provides a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the roots of a subculture that, in the last twenty-five years, has managed to move mainstream without losing its edge. Authors Roger Gastman and Caleb Neelon have spent the better part of the last five years interviewing key figures in the graffiti world throughout American-from the bedrock cities of New York City, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles to the lesser-known, but equally important hotspots of Cleveland, Baltimore, and Phoenix. Approximately 90 percent of the art in this book has never been published, and was sourced directly from the artists who lived the scene, giving the book a raw street vibe as authentic as the history it documents.

Queen - Queen - Music & Dance

Queen - Queen - Music & Dance
£19.99

In 2011, the world will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Queen - one of the most innovative, glamorous, and influential bands in history. Over the course of the band's career, they have grossed 170 million album sales worldwide, have written 18 number one hits, and performed 700 concerts. While some acts enjoy a forte of incredible showmanship, a virtuoso instrumentalist, a strong, charismatic leader, or a prolific sole songwriter, Queen beholds all of these strengths. Although Freddie Mercury and Brian May are recognized as the prime songwriters, each of the members have penned number one hits, including classics such as "Bohemian Rhapsody" (Freddie Mercury), "Another One Bites the Dust" (John Deacon), "A Kind of Magic" (Roger Taylor), and "We Will Rock You" (Brian May). The fates brought the four creative and cerebral youths together in London in 1971 (Mercury was by then an established fine and graphic artist, May was enveloped in the study of astrophysics, Roger Taylor enrolled in dental school, and John studying electronics). Since then, they have made history with their sophisticated fusion of operatic expression, theatrical performance, symphonic melody, and raw rock-and- roll. Beginning with their debut Queen in 1973 (EMI/Electra Records), the band took the UK by storm, then conquered the United States along with rest of the world, serving as pioneers of stadium rock and enjoying commercial success and momentum well into the 1980s (marked by the famous Live Aid appearance in 1985) through the early 1990s. The whirlwind took a startling pause when singer Freddie Mercury passed away from AIDS on November 24, 1991. The living members have forged ahead and remain great music makers until this day. "The Complete Illustrated Lyrics" is the first book of its kind. Never before has there been a complete Queen lyric book. The hundreds of images that accompany the songs range from handwritten lyrics to rare photographs from the stage to the studio. Also included is a complete discography of the band, pairing each song to the album on which it was originally released. Designed by the band's longtime creative director, Richard Gray, this book is as true to the band as can be, carrying with it the flamboyance, expression, and depth that Queen embodies as writers and performers. If there is one book for a fan of the band to possess, this is the one.

Another interesting little twist in this game is the way that the bonfires you'll find placed around the world are checkpoints where you can repair your items refill your health flasks and ensure it to be a respawn point should you die. Another thing you can do at a bonfire is spend the souls of your vanquished foes which act as this game's currency and which can be spent on levelling up increasing your health stamina and magical abilities. There is also a definitive online co-op multiplayer experience within Dark Souls which has you relying on other individuals throughout the game to share tips strategies and various knowledge to help you progress. You will be able to see the shadows of other players as they in turn trek through this vast cruel world and even the blood stains of where they have been smite. When you die you will leave your own blood stain and become Hollowed losing all souls that you have collected. Another resource you will be relying on throughout this game is your Humanity gained only through items and by defeating horrendous and terrifying bosses which can be used to light your own bonfires and revive yourself to Human. This incredibly imaginative game will transport you through this punishing universe allowing you to write your own destiny pulling you ever deeper with each victory and completely immersing yourself in the darkness. Whether you come out alive is up to you. (Cat Click Images To Enlarge
